Title: [20/05/17] The end of G11.

As the server is dying down, it's time to pull the plug.

The old community stopped playing a little while back, and now the new community has started to become inactive.

It sucks - both XpanD and myself put a lot of time into this server.  We spent many, many hours creating the in-game world - the spawn, all the towns and gyms, all the secrets.. we put way more time into this server than any one we've had before. We put this much time in because we were sure that we could make it work if we put this much effort into it. Pretty much did nothing else for months to get the server to where it is today. It didn't work. This server ended up being less active than G10 was, and much less effort was put into that.

The server will go down completely on the 10th of June. The server will remain up until then, and you'll be able to finish off any projects you've been working on. The world map will be uploaded so you guys can download it, nothing will go to waste.

I'm sorry that it had to come to this, but we've put so much energy into it and the fact that the server has been shrinking is very demotivating. It's been a great experience and I'm happy all of you guys have enjoyed the server.

As said before, the server will remain up until the 10th of June, so feel free to play normally until then - don't start any large projects now though, you may not be able to finish them in time.

Well said.

I absolutely hate doing this to the people who were working on big things, but man... This had to stop. I've never been this obsessive about making a server work before. I've literally been waking up, eating, doing necessary IRL things, playing and then going to sleep for the last few weeks, just trying to get things to work out somehow. Things were far past the point of being fun. Don't get me wrong; I did enjoy the server a lot when we started and it still had some great moments up until now, but this went way too far.

Rest in peace, G11. You will not be forgotten.

(if anybody wants to add me on Steam, my username is "SUXpanD" and my screen name is usually going to be "XpanD" -- if we do something again, I'll have it showing on there!)

Well.

I haven't been this invested into one of your servers since those old first days we had years ago. I am almost distraught to hear that yet another gen is going under. I felt things were working out great and new content was always being included. What went wrong? I think that pixelmon, while extremely fun, can be "beaten" within a couple days of hard playing. Also, a choice to go themed like that was bold and had lots of promise, but I think it ended up too unique and too unnoticed somehow. I admire the work staff put into all of this, but I can't help hurting for these lines of servers you guys have been making. This used to be something great and was a huge success back in the day, and it hurt to see a peak of like 10 players when we had such large numbers back in the day.

I'm not sure where the fire was lost or what changed from those old amazing days, but I hope to be around and be a larger part of the next round. Maybe it's time to go back to those old roots. The towny/nation system, working jobs/economy, more player interactions instead of a single player experience (I basically went solo this time, but I went all in), and who knows what else. I feel at the very least we could copy/paste what an older gen had and you could rake in more than maybe 10 players at a time like pixelmon did. Staff did their all this round and some of us jumped in deep, and I honestly blame the nature and structure of pixelmon in general. It's honestly not a long term mod where people would stay on for over a year (maybe with nations).

I am extremely sad that this gen is going the way of some of the others. I do want us to return to our towny/econ roots, but I don't think we can pull in the same people as before or even a new dedicated base without some hard work and some serious customizing work to make us stand out. Maybe pixelmon could be the trial run for something greater, and I would be first in line to help make suggestions, plan, and jump right back in if it rang true to what made these servers popular in the past.

Gen 11 I'm sad to see you go, but I think there's something better that could come soon.

Signing out,

It probably could handle it, there's something everyone has to do to make it run smoothly though.

Pretty much anything that can run MC can run Pixelmon, it's not that much heavier.

+1

I could run it fine on a shitty Intel Chipset and 3GB RAM.
